So for future reference I complied a list of things I did and things I (or you) could do, if found in a similar situation.
- Sit and pout that I couldn't access my email or FB or favorite websites
- Go outside to sit and think and watch the rain
- Go get fast food breakfast, come home and eat it outside on the patio in the nice rainy weather
- Paint my fingernails/toenails
- Stop procrastinating and do my Report Cards - since we are still in the dark ages here and haven't switched over to computer generated report cards
- Take a nap
- Think about what I could be doing online
- Read a book
- Pout when the laptop battery dies and I can't even look at things I have saved on the laptop
- Take another nap
- Light every candle in the house
- Blow out every candle in the house when you get a headache from the conflicting smells from said candles
- Sit outside and watch the rain because the house stinks like 15 different candle scents
- Pout when I realize I could be watching my new NM movie ... if we had power...
- Go all 'limp noodle', slither onto the floor and whine about being soooooo bored
- Injure self when trying to navigate to the bathroom in the dark b/c you trip over a dog toy strategically placed in the bathroom doorway (don't worry Dad - I was wearing flip flops - it was my elbow and shoulder that were injured when falling/crashing into the door frame)
- Go for a walk - oh wait - nope it's raining...can't do that either
- Think about how tasty popcorn would be right now... if only I could pop it...
- Try to work out a way to pop microwave popcorn on the grill without catching on fire or blowing up...don't worry didn't try it...just thought about it and was super bummed to realize that it would never work. Nick would have stopped me anyway.
- Grade papers....naw - just kidding - I didn't even get close to being that bored or desperate
- Stare at the computer in a longing/pining manner and sigh...loudly
- Realize my addiction to the computer and internet and electricity in general
- Go right back into addiction denial when suddenly the power comes back on - jump for joy- dance happy dance - while waiting for the computer to boot back up - then go check email/FB/favorite websites... to see what I missed while living without electricity...Oh yeah and go pop a bag of popcorn!

I love that part about grading papers, I am NEVER too bored to do that.
It's funny how much we actually don't realize that we depend on electricity. and on any given day it's sad to realize how much time I spend on a computer.
It really is too bad it was raining cause you could have gotten your quota of sunshine for the week while the power was off.
But looking on the bright side, at least it wasn't August and there was no air in the stifling summer south. (silver lining-always looking for it)
However, my favorite would be take a nap, then take another nap...cause with or without power what better way to spend a sunday afternoon?
you should look into an invention that makes popcorn without power. however, it can not involve the grill as the paper would just burn up. but you are a smart girl, you can figure it out.
Can't you make one of those foil pouches and put some oil in with kernels and pop it on the grill that way? I dunno. And I am glad to hear about your candle comments. I HATE candles because I can't stand strong smells. Seems like everyone else just LOVES that stuff. uck!
