Odds and Ends

Saturday Boredom

So...we dyed my hair black today...again.  Cause we were bored.  Don't panic. It's a cheap dye so it will wash out in a week or so.  No worries.  (this is what happens when left to our own devices I suppose)  But srsly.  The blasted SUN has bleached my hair so it has had this reddish look to it for a few weeks now.  Do. Not. Want.  So what can ya do?  And when I say we, I mean WE.  I sat in a chair while Nick put on the gloves and coated every hair with color.  Pretty spiffy for a straight dude.  Just sayin'.  Although the 'girl talk salon gossip' was limited to "you're hair looks like snakes sticking up like that"..."lolz"... and him apparently trying to dye the skin all around my hairline, and neck, and shoulder, and ears... black too.   Whatever, he enjoyed it.

Sorry no pic.  Every light in this place has a golden hue to it so the pics just look like the freaking golden brown it was.

However, Nick had some nice commentary after.

First, he couldn't get over the jet black.  Then, he commented on how it makes the blue in my eyes 'pop'.  (did I say straight dude?)  Then, he called me 'one of those goth chicks'.

Then a few hours later I caught him off guard walking by and he looks up, smirking and says:

"your mom is gonna sh*t when she sees you next weekend."

Touché... Nick...Touché.

Although I'd be willing to be it will be half back to normal by then.

Bad Parenting

So...at some point this afternoon during the great hair dying extravaganza; Nick got a wash cloth out of the linen closet.

Fast forward 6 hours...

We start hearing scratching.  Like frantic, 'help me I'm dying", scratching.

Oh I bet you can see where this is going.

So I swear up and down that it's just Thomas in his litter box.  (what! he's loud)  Luckily, Nick decides to investigate...finding a very frantic and slightly crazed Thomas in (you guessed it) the linen closet.  Oops.

So what does Thomas do in the first 5 minutes of freedom?  Find, trap and kill a huge spider lurking near the dryer.  Guess he figured he better start earing his keep around here.  Or else perhaps he was just showing us what he could (and still might) do to us as payback. I mean he kept looking at me all weird-like and I don't know ...  I just kind of got this vibe that he was going to like cut the spider's head off and put it on my pillow or something.

Poor Baby.  I'm guessing it's a good thing we don't have kids...  *mutters* six hours...

Making others think they're crazy
(i.e. -good times)

So... this is a Jason story.  But still LOL worthy.  I mean srsly.  Even Nick LOLed (hard) at my retelling of this (and you know how bad I SUCK at trying to retell stories)

So sometime in the recent past - Jason came home from a night out, went back outside for something (in his boxers) and came back in through the front door all while his roommate slept on the couch.  The next morning the roommate (RM) says:

RM:  I have to hear about what happened last night.

J:  Why?

RM:  You came home in your boxers.

J:  What?!?  No I didn't.

RM:  Yes you did.  I saw you come in the house wearing boxers.

J:  Ummm.  No.  You.  Didn't.  *giving him that "you're crazy!" look*

RM:  *thinks about it*  huh.  I guess I was sleeping.  I could have sworn...

J:  Uh.  Yeah.  You must have been b/c that didn't happen.

RM:  I must have dreamed it then.

J:  *shocked* YOU DREAM ABOUT ME... IN MY BOXERS!?!?!?  WTF dude!?!?

Ok hopefully that was half as funny to you.  B/c I think I rolled on the floor for at least 25 minutes after hearing this.

The best part:  RM still thinks he dreams of Jason wearing nothing but boxers.  :-D

Smile

Come on.  It's Thursday.  Smile!  :-D

B/C You. Can't. Handle. The. Truth.  But really, who can?

You know this is truth.
 Just accept it.

Because...I wiiiiiiiin!
Duh.

B/c you know you're still picturing me, fabulous, with my my crazy bed head.  I definitely take after dad in that department.  Just sayin'.

For Dad

I don't remember much from that day...

I don't remember where exactly we were.   It was a lake somewhere (I want to say somewhere in Virginia).

I don't remember what year it was.  We were little.

I don't remember why we were there.

But I do remember all of us playing in the water.

You picking us up, throwing us up in the air and into the water.  And I remember feeling so happy.

I may not remember much from that day...

but it is still one of the best days of my life.

Happy Father's Day.  I'm so lucky to be your daughter.

I love you.  Always.

This is why I don't do the grocery shopping

Or rather, why I should.

Nick:   Thanks for picking up some cheese, I was wanting some.

Me:  I thought you might like that.

Nick:  Even though it is ----- (whatever kind – I don’t know…I don’t each much cheese).  I mean it’s good but I like  -------  (I don’t know – I wasn’t really listening…) a little better.

Me:  DUDE!  That cheese was on SALE!  There was like a dollar difference between it and all the other cheese.  A DOLLAR!

End. Of. Discussion.

Boo Lakers >:-(

*from a conversation with Nick last night (beginning at 27 seconds left):

Nick: *sighs* They're gonna lose.

Me:  *#*$@$^!!%  If they'd get their crap together they could still win!  (mutes TV after they miss those last two 3 pointers - I might be able to hold out hope and watch until the bitter end - but that DOESN'T mean I want to hear it)

(Game ends)

Me:  son of a...  *turns TV off and angrily throws remote down on the couch*

Nick:  I can't believe you are interested in the game.  You don't even like basketball.

Me:  *whines* But it's BOSTON.  My people.

Nick:  *rolls eyes*  your people...  *shakes head*

Me:  I don't care about football either but I sure did get into the Super Bowl since My Saints went.

Me:  Don't hate ... just b/c YOUR people didn't make it to the Finals...*mumbles under breath* or the super bowl...

Speaking of...I do believe My USC is in Omaha for the College World Series...yet again.  Woo!!  Shut it Jason.  I know Clemson is there too.  It's alright we can share the spotlight.

Life is good

I know you really don't want to hear this but I'm going to share anyway.  I told myself that my only goal for this summer was to chill out, sleep late, get lots of sunshine, take it one day at a time and heal from the suck year I had.  Well that's what I'm trying to do.  So for today - life is good.

Here's why:

  • Sleeping nice and late

  • Getting dressed for the sole reason of running an errand and meeting Nick for lunch

  • Getting a call from V asking about coming over and going swimming
Which is the only negative for today - having to shave already sunburned legs...not cool.  You're lucky I love you and your girls V.  I wouldn't do that for just anyone.  Just saying.

Moving on...
  • Going swimming for 3 hours and not getting charred.  Sunblock is a beautiful thing.

  • Actually having an idea hit me for dinner without having to stare longingly in the cabinets for endless amounts of time, hoping something jumps out at me

  • Making a dinner without any assistance from Nick - Chicken Alfredo and salad - YUM!

  • Making Banana Pudding b/c other Jennifer's was really good last week:
I know right?  Me actually liking something like that.
Especially considering it was only my 2nd time ever trying it.

  • Getting Final Jeopardy right AGAIN!!  Wooo!!!  I'm on a roll!  I think it's time to go on the show...

  • Making plans to go to the beach Saturday.  Gotta find some water shoes first though - since I can't handle the way the sand feels on my feet *shudder*and plus that beach has too many dang shells! I mean I don't want to lose a flip flop in the ocean...
*sighs*  if only every day could be like this...

Best. Wine. Ever.

Oh and you know why...

Happiness is...

Getting the Final Jeopardy question right the last two times I've watched Jeopardy.   *fist pump*  Woooo!!!

'100% express permission'

Being home last week reminded me that no matter how old I get:

Thanks Jason.  :)  You make my heart happy.

What I'm reading...

Since I was home for a week for Mom's eye surgery, I had some time on my hands to read.  Not like I don't have too much time on my hands as it is right now but regardless...  (don't worry Mom - i'm not posting the before and after pics...yet...)

I'm such a sucker.  Although I have to admit, I did rather like it.  Left a little to be desired.  Had a few strange parts. Plus the fact that it did leave a loose end that I doubt will ever be tied up.  But all in all - it was decent.

Good but sad.  Sad because elephants are my 2nd favorite animal and there was a bit of animal abuse in it.  *pouts*.  Interesting read though.

Starting this one now.  This one is the first of a 3 book series.

Which reminds me -  This (the final book in another 3 book series):

comes out August 24th.  *sighs*  Even though I'll be back to work then - I still can't wait!!!

Saturday, June 5

ahhhhh....

Day 8:  Going as planned.

Laundry...the bane of my existence.

Girls Night tonight.  Wooo!!!

*don't worry.  If this makes sense to you - you're in the circle.  Trust. :)

Words of Wisdom

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some are broken, some are whole, some have weird names, and all are different colors.... but they all learn to live in the same box.
