So long!

That Face!

  • Weighs 12lbs 12oz
  • Is 24 3/4 inches long
  • Goes to bed (usually) and wakes up at about the same time each night/morning.  11pm, 4am and 6am.
  • Coos, talks and squawks a lot.
  • SMILES!!!
  • Responds to us with smiles and watches us
  • Holds his head up and looks around.
  • Rolls over with a little help.
  • Loves baths.
  • LOVES diaper change time.
  • LOVES his changing table/pad.
  • Had imaginary friends (lights, lamps and the side of his swing).  Apparently they tell jokes too b/c he sits and smiles at them... a lot.   :)
  • Starting to laugh.
See I smile.

Yay for the weekend!

Hardcore Baby

Hardcore Chillin.
Yes his hand is casually resting on his knee.  *love it*
and yes I am wearing shorts...

This is how he rolls.
Hands splayed out in mid air.
Pant leg rolled up, gangsta style.
Pacifier half in, half out.

Who needs a milk mustache when you can have a milk beard.
(Hard to see but it's there.  Trust.)
Srsly.

Words

Often times there are no words to truly convey what's in our hearts.
Every now and then there are.

On Stretchmarks:

No.  Didn't get a tattoo.  Not my belly.

Don't wake the baby!

Sleep has been a precious commodity as of late.  Even more so when the little guy doesn't want to sleep.  Which makes him grumpy.  Which is always good times.

That face!  I can't even.
So when he sleeps... you better believe I will CUT you if you do something to wake him. This applies even to me -as I have found myself doing things I never would have imagined to keep him in dream land when he finally does drift off.  Especially at night.  I mean I've spent so much time rocking this sweet baby while he eats and drifts into sleep land that I actually found my foot 'rocking' when I was in bed myself the other night.

So comfy.

Here are the Top 10 things I've done to not wake the baby when he's in the 'falling asleep' stage and I am either lovingly rocking him or hovering over him with a hand pressed on his chest to comfort him to sleep.

So peaceful.

  1. Nursing a severe cramp in my back and or leg b/c of the way we are sitting but I'm too afraid to move and wake him b/c it's been 2 hours and the only thing keeping me awake is the pain and I don't want to start all over with the falling asleep process.
  2. Thirsted to near death b/c I can't reach my glass of emergency overnight water without moving my whole body...thus risking waking him.  Breastfeeding makes you thirsty.  Who knew?  So I stare at the cup of delicious/refreshing water and sigh, longingly.
  3. Frozen to near death b/c the fleece throw I had the foresight to put in the room is j-u-s-t out of reach b/c of a dear husband who moved it b/c he thought it was supposed to be in the laundry basket.  This is even after I'd learned to go to sleep in winter jammies b/c it gets COLD in the middle of the night.  Again, who knew?
  4. Counted the number of polka dots/animals with smiley faces/red trucks/orange stripes/blue dinosaurs...on his jammies to occupy my brain when I'm not staring lovingly at his little face.
  5. Thought about throwing the dog outside to the wolves when he barks at the door b/c someone knocks or gets too close to where Aiden is sleeping and shakes (making his collar/license jingle, loudly).
  6. Let the aforementioned 60 lb dog climb into my lap (while sitting in an office desk chair) b/c there is a raging thunderstorm happening outside and he's a big scaredy cat who is deathly afraid of thunderstorms - so he will stop pacing, crying and whining near Aiden b/c I'm there with my hand glued to his chest b/c he's ALMOST asleep!  Actually kind of sad I don't have a picture of that...b/c I'm sure we were quite a sight.
  7. Sat an extra 30 minutes with a blissfully sleeping baby in my arms - not b/c I was loving and savoring the moment (even though I was) but b/c somewhere in the middle of eating and rocking -  a little hand wove it's way into my hair and would not release it's grip.
  8. Stopping and going sporadically in my tracks on the way to putting him down to sleep b/c he started stirring and/or opened one eye (he's no dummy) to act all innocent (What?! Who me? No I wasn't trying to put you to bed...)  and rock/bounce him back to sleep.
  9. Sat for an extra 30 minutes on a butt that had long ago fallen asleep b/c he has gassy smiles that are melting my heart and I don't want to stop looking at him.
  10. Watching the famished, undernourished cat who only had 15(!) kibbles of food in his dish left - troll around for food in the middle of the night b/c I didn't take his many hints to refill his bowl before I became too busy with (in his opinion) much less important things - jump up on the counter, fidget with a sleeve of crackers until he got it open, take ONE cracker out, paw it off the counter, jump down and slowly eat it.  ALL WHILE eyeing me defiantly and DARING me to say something.

Which he knew I wouldn't b/c I wasn't about to ...wake the (almost) sleeping baby.  ;)

I mean really.
Who could bear to disturb this peaceful slumber?

The things this baby will do for a Band Aid

Band Aids are cool.   Simple as that.

Apparently it is simply instinct to know this.  I thought this was something my school kids learned before they got to me in kindergarten/first grade.

Aiden knew at one day old when he was showing off his band aids on his feet - keeping at least one foot out of the blanket at ALL times.  (He had to prove he really was tough as a fire ant, after all.)  Now he's hooked to the cool factor it gives him and his (alleged) tough guy persona.

Those forehead wrinkles... I die.

This genius plan backfired on the poor little guy though.   This isn't Mom's first rodeo with kiddos scheming band aids.  So back to mittens at night for this Sweat Pea.

Also, this.  *love it*
Thanks Uncle Jason and Aunt Sterling!

Words of Wisdom

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some are broken, some are whole, some have weird names, and all are different colors.... but they all learn to live in the same box.
