It's been a while - I know. As ironic as it is, the one time of the year I have absolutely nothing to do - I've been pretty busy. Oh well.
I'm pretty much back to school next week. So summer is officially over. *sighs* I know.
Like. You. Care.
I have meetings this Thursday and next Tuesday. Autism Training Wednesday and Thursday of next week (speaking of - Mel N. we need to talk). Mom and Dad are coming out to help me set my room up next Friday and Saturday. And the following week is full of back to school meetings and in-services. So here we go! Ready or not!
So here are some end of summer odds and ends:
- I made Nick's birthday "snowball" cake Saturday. It has to be the messiest cake in the history of the entire world. It nearly became a Cake Wreck. Thank goodness I don't aspire to be a professional cake decorator. I did very nearly consider botching the spelling on the cake since it was very, very close to a real-live Cake Wreck (srsly go check that site out! You won't be disappointed!). I mean Fluff globs creeping down the sides. Coconut EVERYWHERE! The only part that cooperated was the actual cake and the whipping cream center. It is delicious though.
Let me just tell you...trying to spread marshmallow fluff over chocolate cake is NOT easy.
Then trying to get coconut to stick to the fluff = fun times
and sticky, STICKY... EVERYTHING.
- While on the topic of birthdays. Mom has always maintained that Jason's birthday and my birthday being 7 days apart was not a good thing. I disagree. You can save (time and money) on decorations - and I do recall joint birthday parties when we were younger (just sayin'). For example: I can decorate for Nick's birthday on July 25th. And those decorations can stay up until my birthday on August 12th. Although this means that I am essentially decorating for my own birthday...which is kind of sad... but regardless. It works. I don't see the problem Mom. Well other than having to shell out money for b-day presents all at once...
- I went to the beach TWO WEEKS ago. And I am STILL peeling. I haven't taken a hot shower in TWO WEEKS! WTF?!? I think I've learned that the beach (in the summertime) is just not for me. Too much burn. Too much pain. Too much headache. Too much sand. It didn't help that I left for home the next day and couldn't wallow around in misery on the couch. ;)
- The other day I was listening to the radio and John Tesh (yeah I just had to google that...) was talking about things people think about that are bad for their health. This guy had the audacity...audacity to say that thinking cynically has shown to lead to diabetes. Oh really John Tesh?!? Really?? So according to you I must have been a cynical child?!? And that's the reason I am a diabetic? Some how...I just don't see it John Tesh. Not to mention, I was a delightful child. DELIGHTFUL I tell you! Wonderfully happy and carefree. So you can take your thinking cynically ... and shove it John Tesh! *shakes head*
- Irony = I spilled tea (I'm talking legit, hot - like "would you care for a spot of tea dear?"- tea) on my Harry Potter book the other night
- I recently discovered that I've lived off of the same street for the last 4 years - and only realized the speed limit was 35, three days ago. Whoops.
- Oh to be a cat. Or more specifically - oh to be Thomas. Life is beautiful...and perfect.
Soaking up a sunbeam.
Life. Is. Good.
- Last weekend we rented Hot Tub Time Machine. Now I was skeptical. Very skeptical. I mean I love me some John Cusack and Craig Robinson - but I was still leery. NY Post said it is funnier than The Hangover. But I mean really... it is hard to beat the comedic genius of The Hangover. So like I said...skeptical.
But O.M.G if I didn't nearly die from laughing so hard at a few parts... I mean at one point I couldn't even get words out ... for laughing so freaking hard. I mean this is me..." [gasping for air] I can't... I ... I can't even...I can't... even... [dies laughing]". Too much. Definitely two thumbs up - for srsly stupid and some crude humor - but still... I can't remember laughing that hard ...like... ever.
And for some funnies and Truths:
From ruminations.com
There's nothing more nerve-wracking than scanning someone's wedding photos for the inevitable candids of you looking like a drunken fraggle in the background.
it doesn't matter if I've been there or not. I'm 100% convinced that where I'm from is better than wherever you're from.
Whenever I drop my keys or struggle to unlock the car, I’m almost positive that there is a 90% chance I’m going to be murdered.
Why are all the Walmarts not set up the same? When I go into a Walmart in a different town I always stand in the doorway stunned, trying to figure out which way to go.
Whenever driving over a bridge, I automatically think of a way I can escape my car if it were to collapse and I were to plummet into the water.
Woah, calm yourself blood donation collector. I am not here to be a hero. Me and my O- blood type are really here for free food, zoo passes and the t-shirt's you're giving away. [jen rant: srsly! I'm starting to look like a drug addict with track marks from those gigantic needles you use to get my blood! - and on another note - you don't have to call and harass me about setting up an appointment - just tell me where to be and I'll come donate as often as I can. geez]
I saw your call and decided to text you back. You saw my text and thought you had the ok to call again? Wrong-O! Expect yet another text. [*coughJASONcough* LOL]
It must sorta suck when all you have to get excited about in the summer are lakes.
When I have kids, I hope I love them as much as I love my dogs. [and cat]
I wonder how many childhood disorders I would have been diagnosed with if they had the testing when I was a kid. [Just sayin']
