A celebration is in order!

"If anyone can BS their way through something better than me - it's you."

Awwwww really?!?!? Thanks Veronica!!! That means a lot! *wipes tear*

I would like to accept this WIN with this acceptance speech:

Wow - this is so unexpected... I didn't even prepare a speech. *clears throat* Ummm...I would like to thank my family and friends. Thanks to Jason for teaching me the fine art of BS-ing from an early age. Ummm...thanks to the four years of undergrad and 2 years of graduate school for allowing me to fine tune my BS-ing abilities. It is definitely a skill one has to practice. Thanks to Mom and Dad for believing in me through it all. Thanks to Nick for keeping me witty and on my A-Game. Ummmm....oh yeah - thanks to Veronica for recognizing my abilities. Ummm... yeah... thanks!!

Who says teaching doesn't have its perks???

2 Free Tickets to Medieval Times? Yes Please. (Did I mention that said tickets would have cost us $100?) B/c yeah...that place isn't cheap.

I'm gonna be honest here... I didn't even want to go. I let Nick make the call - when I was offered the tickets at school 2 weeks ago. I mean we still had to drive 1 hour to get to Myrtle Beach. But 1/2 a tank of gas was well worth the entertainment value!

I was a little nervous since we didn't have actual tickets -but duh... we were VIP guests (it said so on my confirmation) so OUR names were on THE LIST. We weren't commonfolk who had to have trivial things such as tickets. We got to sit in the VIP area and have hors d'oeuvres (wow that's a tricky little booger to spell... did I even get it right!?!) while we waited to be called into the arena for dinner. Everyone else had to sit and watch us...haha *evil laugh*. We did get a little sucked in to the gift shop. I got a magnet and Nick got a wooden sword *rolls eyes*.

Us at the VIP reception:

I look like a News Anchor...Baaaack to you Pete. womp...womp... :-/

See the rope sectioning off the "VIP area" - yeah... I'm important people. What -you didn't know?

You like the blue nail polish? I do.

Oh yeah - did I mention Nick's beer? Yeah...

We are now the proud owners of a GLASS that won't fit in our cabinets. Gotta love it.

Ummm...Hi. My name is Jen and I can't hold the camera steady to save my life. I must have taken like 47 pics trying to get a good one. I finally gave up... quitter... *hangs head in shame* I had the freaking stabilizing feature off. Note to self: I definitely need that ON at all times.

Dinner was good (nothing spectacular). I ended up bringing 1/2 a chicken home (srsly 1/2 a chicken) and giving most of the rest to Nick. (I don't do spareribs - and the tomato bisque had all kinds of herbs and spices... bleh).

The show was awesome. I was a little concerned about eating while all the dust flew and while watching the horses...ahem...do their business. Gross... It wasn't too bad though. We had to eat with our hands only - so that was different. I almost reverted to my 'can't eat bone-in chicken' ways b/c it is just plain gross picking meat off of the chicken carcass with. your. fingers. (which is prob why we have 1/2 a chicken sitting in the fridge.) But I digress....

I would love to show you all the other pics I took but since I'm a Shaky McShakerson when taking pics - most of them are blurry. What with how fast everyone was moving on top of my inability to keep the camera still for .09827ths of a second. What marvelous pics I would have had if I had the stabilizer on. B/c that also helps with 'action pictures'. Oh well... you live... you learn.

Plus I didn't take too many after we were eating since we had to eat with our hands...greasy fingers and cameras aren't the best of friends.

We were cheering for the Red Knight (can't you tell from the hats?) that's him up there in the red and black (duh) - and he was a ham. He kept trying to get us to cheer for him and kept doing things to show off for us. The horses did tricks that were pretty cool. They could trot in place, do high kicks where their whole body was off the ground, walk with their front legs kicking out and all kinds of other things. And since Nick and I are 5 years old... we got a serious kick out of watching the guy run out and clean up the horse poop while the show was going on. It was necessary though - since the Knights did a lot of hand to hand combat where they threw each other on the ground... and that would just be gross... to land in... well you get the picture.

There was a King, Prince, and a Princess - the Knights JOUSTED.. Like real, full-on jousting... no red bean bag chairs required...no broken bones though...my left arm kinda twinged a little while watching...thanks Jason. I will never be able to enjoy jousting again... j/k.
They did other tournament games like running full speed on the horse and spearing a hoop or hitting a bullseye. And finally the Prince was saved from the Green Knight (he was the bad guy) and was able to return to the Princess. Awwww a happy ending. Who doesn't love a happy ending???

So all in all -WELL worth the cost of a 1/2 tank of gas! Although I have to say I felt like it was 4a.m. when I was driving home at 8:30. I guess getting ready for a night out (full make-up, hair done, ironing nice clothes) at 2:30 in the afternoon kind of throws you off.
******************************

On totally unrelated note:

This is the mirror we got a couple weeks ago (on sale!! Score! Yay for Hobby Lobby!) for behind the love seat.

You like? I do.

P.S - I got my hair cut *cough*butchered*cough* today. No pic - b/c I'm gonna see if I can fix it myself. I mean never in my life have I come sooooooo close to crying/walking out when getting my hair cut. My normal attitude is that it grows back - take chances, be adventurous... well when this woman cut my SWOOPY bangs STRAIGHT across my eyes (in the process taking at least 3 inches off of them) I honestly teared up.
**
Swoopy Bangs i.e. Bangs that swoop across the front of the head from one side to the other and BLEND in with the layering of the hair.
**
She asked if it was good/ok and I just said "ummmmmnnnnnkkkkyeah? *swallows lump in throat and takes big breath*.
**
She was like are you sure?
**
And I AM SCREAMING IN MY HEAD "WTF can you do NOW?!?! Glue them back on?!?!"
**
But as I calmed down... I decided that I can probably salvage it - or at least wear a headband for 3 WEEKS. *takes calming breath* I mean I used to cut my own hair anyway. What I NEED is a friend who cuts hair. You know anyone? So no, no pic.

Edited to add: I was marginally able to fix it. I cut and cut *sheds tear* trying to make it look semi normal. Sorry there is no 'before' but I just was waaaaaaayyyyy too upset and disgruntled to take a pic not knowing if I could fix it. So I'll give you 'in process' pics.

Exhibit A: These are NOT swoopy bangs. These are 'I'm in 3rd grade bangs'.

-After the first round of Operation-Make-The-Bangs-Appear-Longer by bringing more hairs in and camouflaging them as bangs...

Exhibit B: My fix. Okay... but NOT what I had in mind.

I'm still a little disgruntled here... can you tell? You really can't see the side layers... but trust... they are there.

Exhibit C: My new best friend...a headband.

Like the spikes? I don't...okay maybe I do... a little. This may be the only time I can rock spikes. :)

haha - funny side note: when taking these pics I thought I saw someone lurking around behind me in the bedroom. Thinking it was Nick I played along. I just figured he was watching me so he could make fun of me... So imagine my surprise when he came walking in from the hallway. I. About. Jumped. Out. Of. My. SKIN. Talk about scaring the Bejesus out of someone! Guess who/what I had been playing a mind game with for the last 15 minutes? Oh Creeptastic Edward Poster (ok Rob poster) hanging in the bedroom. Guess I don't need a Full Size Edward (think Mini E but full size and cardboard) to lurk around and scare me.

My life is random.

Random but quite often LOL funny from stupid stuff that I encounter, say, hear & read. Since Veronica and I chat on gmail to pass the time - I can bring up the transcript later and see how goofy/retarded/funny/drunk...(the list goes on) we are. I like gmail chat b/c often we just type what pops into our minds and don't stop to think about what we are saying until it is too late. This multiplies exponentially when we have been drinking during/before the chat. So gmail chat is awesome in my book. Otherwise - sometimes I get it together and write something down that people say during convos. So you better watch out... b/c I am totally going to be paying attention and taking notes from now on...

Since they're so random I thought I'd share.

Gmail outtakes:

(talking about one outrageously long faculty meeting where we looked at grading student writing- one paper talked on and on about how you shouldn't smoke b/c it might cause you to get in a car accident...yeah...you read that right)

Me: during that don't smoke paragraph Carla was going on and on about how you could possibly end up getting in an accident when smoking... She had us rolling.

she kept coming out with ... you might drop the cig.. .under the seat... then you'd be swerving trying to get it... or in the seat... or if you drop the lighter
or if you drop it on your clothes and catch on fire...

V - wow

Me - Srsly I'm sitting with Carla at meetings from now on...

*****************

7:09 me: just got home...on a Friday... what is wrong with me? I could have been home at 2:30 today.

me: i want you to know i risked my life and sanity putting those hw papers in ur room
7:13 Veronica: why?
me: ALL the lights were off in the hallway and it was CREEPY I've never seen it that dark

me: totes thought something was gonna jump out of the blackness and get me

Veronica: wow, well thanks

7:14 PM i mean i couldn't even see the floor
totes could have broken my neck tripping over a trash can
or something worse
like a person hiding on the floor in the dark

(yes this is srsly the kind of stuff that goes through my mind when walking through the dark)

***************

Trying to get Veronica to guess something - I told her that I like trying to get people to guess what I'm thinking...

me: much like i get a thrill out of holding secret competitions that no one knows about until i inform them that they won (or that I won)

**************

A true testament of just HOW random our chats are...

me: yeah how about im bummed about getting an 80 on The Host test
:(
I feel like a failure
8:08 PM Veronica: i know -but you only read it once, a LONG time ago
i didn't attempt the HP quizzes - i know i would FAIL

me: yeah - it was a while ago
you might want to refresh on those before testing

unless u want to 'call a friend' - cause then you'd be good
b/c you know I have no morals and would be happy to sit with you while you take the test and refresh your memory

**(we're talking about taking quizzes for points that don't matter...nothing serious or real)

Veronica: yeah, i would prob need that - i just sent you two funny emails

8:11 PM me: yay emails
8:14 PM haha - i like it but srsly how did that dude get up on the three buckets?

8:15 PM Veronica: i don't know photoshop?

me: awww man srsly? that just ruins it :(

Veronica: oh yeah, congrats on your big win

me: for what?

Veronica: you won membership for a month... LOL.. to curves...LOL
me: oh ...
yeah...

that...

Veronica: you shouldn't have been knocking it yesterday

me: I know right? Curves?! Y not McLeod or YMCA? i didn't have the heart to say "ummmm... i. will. NEVER. use. this… ever.
LOL
WHAT ever
karma
bit me
Veronica: yep, it always does

me: dang i was excited... thought i won for something i was unaware of

************

me: how about thomas BIT me
hard
i have wounds

Veronica: did he get a spanking

me: YES and he got locked in the hamper for like an hour

Veronica: oh crap
you are harsh

me: AFTER THE DAY I HAD????

that was mild. trust.

************

talking about how Jacob in Twilight doesn't look like he is 17 years old (I'm paraphrasing here b/c I can't find this chat)

Veronica: I mean 17 yr olds just don't look like that.

Me: Yeah I don't remember anyone looking like that in high school - that's bad b/c it is very easy to forget how young he is. Even my mom said something about it.

Veronica: Maybe I'll start going to Sonic to see since that's where all the high school kids hang out.

Me: I'll start saving bail money.

Veronica: NOT to pick one up!!

***********

Me: wow i might as well be drunk with the level of difficulty i am having typing. stupid. long. fingernails.
hold on I'm going to be a beer
srsly...

Veronica: it's okay, i can decipher

me: not be a beer - get a beer..

11:26 PM Veronica: you must be already drunk

me: sadly not - this is me sober.

*********

Recent Jason Funnies: (I wrote them down today...)

J - I might be a referee for Halloween too - good idea... I'd be flagging all the girls

me - *sarcastic* wow

J - I'd be blowing my whistle at everyone...

me - no, that wouldn't get your butt kicked.

J- I'd be THAT guy

me- yes, yes you would.

*********

J - there's nothing wrong with having a little self-esteem.

me - LITTLE being the key word, not a whole bucket full

J- more like a 50 gallon drum full

me - *sarcastic* wow

***********

One last thing: When talking with a "new to Twilight" friend (sorry Kathryn - this is way too good not to share) on FB I asked her what she knew about the new movie since she hasn't read the books - and she totally wins for Best. Summary. Ever.

My understanding is the indian boy wants to get w/ bella...the black vampire that warned bella in twlight attacks bella and the indian boy turns into a wolf. edward tries to stay away from bella bc that new vegetarian vampire tries to eat bella and so bella tries to drown herself bc she thinks she can only see edward when shes in trouble. so after she tries to drown herself edward thinks she is dead so he tries to get the Head vampire to kill him... right when he tries to get the vamp to kill him bella comes in to stop him! lol it should be good. this is what the previews kinda said..

Update/FYI

I added music to the blog. Why? B/c I wanted to ... duh... So if you don't want to hear it you can mute your computer or if it's bogging down your computer -you can scroll to the bottom and pause it.

A good day...

I have no real, major reason to say I had a good day... just a few things that made me happy, smile or LOL. I tend to stay away from the blog if I'm not feeling up to scratch or funny or interesting - which is probably why I haven't been posting too often. B/c lets be honest here... boring, tired, not in any remotely way interesting posts are not fun to read. They're actually kind of depressing. And usually I wouldn't even boast my good day in fear that some strong reckoning force of karma would come down on me for being conceited or cocky... but since it hasn't been the best of times lately... I think I deserve an all encompassing good day. So I am glad to post- finally - to say it was a good day. Simple - no earth shattering event - just all in all - good day.

It was nice today. Cool, breezy, slightly rainy (I'm weird...I like rain). Just nice. A quote ran through my head as I waited outside to pick up my kids from art class as the breeze went through my hair: "I will not always be ... lost at sea". It was a nice peaceful moment and a realization that even though things aren't always good or going my way; it won't always be this way.

Here are some other possible contributing factors for my good day...

1. I have a new front passenger window. (Wow... a new window... *rolls eyes*) well I don't know if YOU have ever walked out to find your car violated and broken ... but I have ... 3 times. And I have to say I just feel whole again knowing it has been put back together. In addition, I have a fancy car alarm now - which just makes me feel secure on a whole new level. My car is now like a fortress... ok not really. But it gives me a good feeling anyway.

2. My nice, happy emails from Mom every morning. Now I know how it feels to be on the other side of the email club (getting one every morning instead of sending one). And I tell you... It. Feels. Good. to get a quick email every morning telling me any random tidbit and to have a good day. Especially the one from this morning telling me to have a good (rainy) day. It made me remember that I like to pretend I live in Forks, WA (the wettest place in the Continental US) when it rains. :) Thanks Mom.

3. I have a cool new cell phone... I've lived in the dark ages way too long with not-cool phones. Mind you it isn't a Blackberry... after closer consideration... I realized that I just don't need one. I am never that far away from a computer so I really don't need Internet access in my phone - nor would I use 87.2% of the features (I've lived in the dark ages remember? I wouldn't know what to do with all that technology). So I get really excited to send people a text with my full keyboard or get a call now with my happy ringtone. Nick is still working on the specialized ringtones... And now I can TEXT without taking 8 years. YAY!! *Veronica dances happy dance*

4. One of the other teachers did the best thing ever this morning... when sending my kids into the classroom she commented on my appearance (it was picture day) and told my kids that their teacher looks beautiful today. Well you KNOW 6 year olds... (1) they will take ANY opportunity to talk (2) they will use any excuse to have a reason to say something to me that will get a positive reaction (3) they are copycats (4) they forget things after 5 minutes and think everyone else does too ... the list goes on... so OF COURSE they all had to comment on my appearance. Which isn't that out of the ordinary since I usually hear random things - and I quote: "I like your hair" (when it's all ratty -not when it's styled) "I like your...pants" (when I'm wearing khakis - not when I'm wearing something nice) "I like your...socks" (when they're plain - not when I'm wearing really cute or funny ones) "I like your...nail polish" (when it is boring, bland off white - not when they're painted red, blue, black, purple, green, sparkled...). See where I'm going with this? And yes the "..." is when they are thinking about what they can say and looking me up and down trying to find something to compliment me on... *smirks*

...Even though I can totally see through them and know they just want to please me or get a hug for saying something sweet - I still eat it up (every. last. crumb.). However, today the compliments kept coming. Remember when I said they forget things after 5 minutes? Well since they do... I guess they "forgot" she already said it and thought I would too -so the compliments kept coming ALL day, sometimes from the SAME kids- over and over. I think EVERY KID complimented my appearance today. "You look pretty" "I like your hair like that" "I like your shirt" (even though I've worn it frequently) "I like your pants" (WTF plain old black pants? umm okay?) "I like your fingernail polish" (half chipped away black with sparkle *yes! someone noticed one of my bold nail polishes*) "I like your...hair" "I like your... name tag" (okay?).

You get the gist. You'd think It would get old. It doesn't. You'd think it would bother me and make me wonder if I look like a garbage bag every other day. It didn't. You'd think since I know it is phony and only brought on b/c someone else already said it - it wouldn't bring a smile to my face. It definitely didn't change my reaction.

5. Speaking of kids - I heard twice today that other teachers complimented my kids/class for how well they handle themselves. The art teacher told me that she feels like their art class is like a free period for her b/c they are so easy to work with. They listen, they follow directions and they are able to do things that the other kids can't do. A second grade teacher made her kids watch us at lunch today and while they lined up b/c she told them that if a FIRST grade class can act like that then THEY should be able to too.

6. The school photographer complimented me on being the "mom away from home" for my kids b/c I straightened up their clothes and hair before they took their pictures. I mean he was really sweet when he said it and told me that it was well beyond my job description and so nice to see me 'looking after them so they'd take a good picture' - but I was kind of like 'umm...dude this IS part of my job and these ARE my kids away from home". I mean pictures are expensive these days and how would you feel if your kid brought home pictures where they looked like total rag dolls? Srsly.

7. And one last thing - I received a 'letter' from one of my kids from last year in my box Monday. So I wrote back and 'sent' it to her through her new teacher. Well guess who shows up today afterschool and wanted to hang out until they called her daycare? It was pretty awkward at first but then she took on the "I'm cool b/c I'm the older kid" role and interacted with my new kids. Which was all good until she left and said "I'll see you tomorrow afterschool". *facepalm* Didn't see that coming... Maybe being the beloved 'old teacher' isn't all it is cracked up to be. I guess I can put her to work and have her help me clean up and grade papers or something...

You know? Maybe these kids aren't so bad after all. (just kidding - I LOVE my kids)

So all in all...a good day. I guess everyone is entitled to one every now and then huh?

Letters to...

Dear F***ers who broke into my car this weekend,

HA HA you didn't get anything!!! I hope you CUT your hands on my broken window and the shards of glass all in the seat you crawled over to get into EVERYTHING that was in my car. I also hope you wasted a lot of time digging through all the stuff in my glove compartment, trunk, back seat, console, and school tote bags. I hope you enjoyed looking through all my students' tests and other school papers I had in there. I'm so glad I am not STUPID and took my stereo faceplate and i-pod upstairs with me Friday night. I hope you didn't find anything that you could use to steal my identity with b/c I would hate to have to use up my precious time HUNTING you down so I can torture you to death (Thomas bites...hard). I also hope you CHOKE on the candy you took out of my school bag - I mean honestly WHO steals CANDY for crying out loud??? I hope it was rotten and you get food poisoning from it (it's been in there since August). And in all seriousness... I hope you ROT in Hell (yeah I said it.) for doing such terrible things to decent people. We should be able to have things without worrying that people like YOU will come along and STEAL everything out from under us. And I don't even feel 1% bad for saying that - b/c that's where you're going whether I wish you there or not.

Hoping your hands get infected and fall off,
Your buddy who only keeps papers and jackets in her car

P.S - You better HOPE you don't come in contact with Nick, Dad or Jason if they have any inkling that YOU were the ones who violated my car. You think I'm harsh... You should hear what they had to say...

Dear Nick,

Nothing is better than following you to the carwash so you can vacuum the glass out of my car. Especially when I am following behind you and you are driving my car. The car that totes screams "GIRL CAR" with an "I drive like a Cullen" sticker on the window. Srsly. Seeing your big head and shoulders taking up half the front seat with your arm hanging out the window halfway down the door - zooming around town... Priceless. Nothing could have brought a smile to my sad heart like that visual. I can only hope you came in contact with someone who 'got' the sticker.

My heart is happy just thinking about it.
Love,
Me

Dear Veronica,

Thanks for letting me know I'm not weird. I will be 'not as southern' if that makes me not weird.

Love,
Your just as modern but less southern BFF

P.S - I'll meet you at Sonic at 3:30. (Oh YEAH... that post is still coming...)

Dear commenter on LTR,

You are hilarious! I must have LOLed for 25 minutes. Srsly. Not. exaggerating. at. all. 25 minutes. for realz.

Since I have no idea how to NOT to plagiarize your comment - I am going to preface this by saying I am COPYING this from the LTR comment board and putting it here solely b/c it brings serious LOLz. I am even posting the link. I just think it is too funny not to share. *BTW - LTR and LTT (letters to twilight) are hilarious sites. You should check them out if you are into that kind of stuff.

http://letterstorob.wordpress.com/2009/10/12/robs-mailbag-answered-by-his-interns/#comments

A little background - on the LTR site a bunch of crazy 'fans' of Robert Pattinson (Edward from Twilight) write letters to him, thinking they are sending them to him at this site. When in reality it is just a blog called "Letters to Rob" b/c the two girls who run the site write funny/silly 'letters' to him just to joke around. The letters do NOT go to him - as they are just for fun. However some psychos who read the blog really think it is his site and they send in letters addressed to him. I'd like to think that some are normal but the ones they actually post on the site are srsly funny and crazy. So in making fun of some of the crazies who write to him and sound/look really bad and stalkerish - a lot of normal people comment by writing 'letters' of their own.

I repeat this girl is completely making fun of the crazies (this letter is not real) but you can get the gist of what the real letters are like. It is eerily similar to some of them:

Dear Robert Pattinson,

I am totally normal and have a life, but without you I would cease to exist. I think I could say “you are my life now”–lulz! I watch those paparazzi videos over and over and wish that I was behind the camera, following you out of restaurants and clubs. Or breaking into your hotel room to see if you had any of my other letters. I like to think you keep them in your underwear drawer, like I requested.
Sometimes I dream of you while looking at the posters of you that I put up on the ceiling above my bed. I leave my window open so you can come get me and you’ll let me climb on your back and you’ll call me spidermonkey. And you’ll be all “Bella WHO?” and I’ll LAUGH AND LAUGH. But not in a crazy way. In a funny way.
I hope you’ve given some thought to my offer of removing your clothing piece by piece with my teeth. I’m coming to Vancouver next week, and will bring all the bondage toys I’ve talked about in my other letters, just in case you didn’t bring yours to Vancouver. If I don’t see you, I will die. Literally. Maybe sneak onto set and die on your trailer steps. Don’t make me.

Kisses!

Freya 'Pattinson Masen Cullen Gale Dali Ransom'

Edited to add: HAHA I'm LOLing just proofreading this before I post. :-) Good times... good times.

Some days... I feel like this...

and this...

Warning: This post is pure randomness.

Is it too soon to start the Christmas Break countdown? It might be better if there wasn't so much sicknesses going around.

Thomas BIT me. Yes I know it looks like he scratched me...but srsly - he bit me. Guess he didn't like my hateful school parent story. Now it is all bruised and gross looking.

Does this look bad? I don't know what bit me here. I thought it was a mosquito bite but they don't hurt and spread like that. Hmmmm... prob gonna die from this.

As much as it pains me to say this.... Mooooooooooovvvvvvveeeee over Twilight. I have a new obsession. I know right? Say it ain't so...

You must read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. Wow. All I'm sayin'. You'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll fall in love. Srsly. Waaaaaayyyy more action than the entire Twilight series. Now I have to wait a freaking YEAR for the final book in the series to come out... Oh well. I survived years of waiting for the HP books. I suppose I can survive one year for this. Even though the bites on my arm might kill me before then... :(

Lastly - just for the LOLz.

Yay me!

Go here: http://www.ruminations.com/site/ruminations/104979

and rate me as 'gourmet' (click where it says 'gourmet this')! Then it will stay on the site longer! If you're wondering...this is where the list of "Universal truisms" originally came from. Now I have a published rumination on there!! Yay me!

Words of Wisdom

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some are broken, some are whole, some have weird names, and all are different colors.... but they all learn to live in the same box.
