There is nothing better than running into a student at a store. Nothing better especially when you
don't want to be seen. Which is pretty much any time I am out. Nothing better than running into them once and then being
stalked through the store -
looking over my shoulder - and very consciously considering
everything I put in my cart. Not that I'm not a human who buys everyday things but Idk - I guess just knowing that the parent is scanning everything I have in my cart and judging me (don't say they aren't...they are. Trust.) ... makes me super paranoid.
Even better - is the kid the next day.
I ran into one of my kids last night around 7:00 and talked to her and her family for a minute and then walked away to
hide get what we needed and GET. THE. HECK. OUT. Well after being stalked through the store - with her waving at me furiously every time I spied her lurking nearby -and then once again as we neared the checkout line - we left. Although I
was unconsciously looking in the rear view mirror thinking she was probably following us home.
After
all that - she comes in this morning all excited exclaiming - "I saw you at the store last night!!!" To which I
have to proclaim "I KNOW!! How about that!" When what I
really want to say is
'NO WAY?!? SMALL. FREAKING. WORLD!!!!! I totally forgot! [
sarcasm] ... I mean it has
barely been
12 hours. I know my memory sucks and all - but I will
never for the rest of my life forget you
stalking me all over the store.'
Gotta love it.

and you would definitely know something about how that is done. but you are correct, there is nothing like running into kids you know and having them inspect the buggy. I will never forget when I took my first teaching job in the great town of Lake City and was told, "Anything you need to buy that you think might be the slightest bit inapprpriate, ie..trashy lingerie, things from the ABC teacher store, etc...., please drive the 35 minutes to the great town of Florence and do it there." I was like, no way....WTH, I live here and I shop here adn they don't like what's in my buggy they can turn the other way or I'll stab them in the eye!
I can see that. I told Nick we needed to start doing our shopping in another town. LOL! But srsly some districts do require you to not do anything that you wouldn't do in front of students or parents in the same city. Maybe ours should go to that. I'd glady oblige.
Well Jen, let me ask you which is worse...being stalked by a kid or being stalked by "stalker dad" in wal-mart?? Wendy came and talked to me the other day that he got her...haha...glad I live on the other side of town!
That's a tough one Missy. Prob stalker dad. He is all sorts of creepy and I don't like him knowing about everything I buy at Walmart. He got Wendy!! I would give ANYTHING to have seen that encounter!!! LOLOLOL
Oh and P.S. about stalker dad - he won out b/c he started touching me when he saw me. Like a casual put his hand on my shoulder...touch my arm...pat me on the back as I'm trying to walk away. I'm talking dude has crossed waaaaaaaaay over the line. We have actually gone across town to the other Walmart to avoid him a few times.
