New Normal

I knew things would change.  I really did.  I just didn't realize how much every little thing would change.  Not complaining.  I don't mind the changes (a consecutive 8 hour stretch of sleep would be nice).  I'm just adjusting to the 'New Normal' around here.

Before:  Sleeping in meant 10-11ish.

Now:  Sleeping in = 7:00

Before:  Eating a nice dinner together meant sitting at the table with candles in the candlesticks and eating and talking at a leisurely pace.

Now: Eating a nice dinner means - (1) shoveling food into my mouth b/c I only have a few minutes before he'll start fussing b/c he wants to eat too.  (2) eating with one hand (and most likely fingers) while holding him up to feed him too.

But really.  I'd do anything for this sweat pea.

Before:  7:30 on a Saturday = HECK YEAH! I get to sleep for a few more hours!

Now:  7:30 on a Saturday = Well...It's too late to try to go back to sleep now.

Before:  Needed multiple cups of coffee to feel a caffeine buzz.

Now:  One cup of REGULAR (what?!) diet coke and I'm ready to run a marathon!

Before:  Waking up multiple times throughout the night was annoying and unexpected.

Now:  I don't know what it's like to NOT wake up.   And I don't mind waking up one bit since I get snuggles.

Before:  I would drag out of bed every morning.  Hating life.

Now:  I get up in a hurry (willingly) b/c I know I have to get ready before Doodle wakes up and wants to eat.  Or have enough time to feed him before I get ready.  I actually get happy when I hear him stirring.

Before:  The thought of breastfeeding anywhere but in the privacy of my own home made me nervous.

Now:  I will feed him whenever, where ever.  Without hesitation.

Before:  Friday night = Staying up L.A.T.E watching movies.

Now:  Friday night = 9:30 is L.A.T.E

Before:  I'd fly out of work as soon as I could some days just to come home and have some quiet.

Now:  I fly out of work EVERY DAY and race to daycare so I can get my doodle bug.

Harry Potter baby.  I can't.

Words of Wisdom

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some are broken, some are whole, some have weird names, and all are different colors.... but they all learn to live in the same box.
