Non Stress Tests, Ultrasounds and a Bellysaurus

When the doctors joked that I'd get tired of seeing them...they WEREN'T lying!  Twice a week for 2+ hour appointments is not my idea of fun.  Especially when it's been happening for the last 6 weeks.  But I'll take it. Because it proves to us twice a week that (not so little) Baby Boy is doing well and is happy as a clam where he is.  With no immediate plans to move out...

Last week was a little hairy.  Sleepy boy didn't want to wake up, move or get his heartrate going so we ended up making the trek to the hospital wing for longer testing and a scary ultrasound.  Srsly!  Why can't those people talk to you while they're doing what they do?  Instead of scaring the bejesus out of you b/c of their silence and whispers about what they see?  I don't get it.  Even if it's not good news...knowing something is better than worrying the worst is happening.

Anyways.  We had a talk and he's been behaving himself since then.  :)  We made a deal.  I supply him with a little sugar before we go and he perks up and postpones his naps until after we leave.  B/c as Jason said: "so if he decides to take a nap - you're screwed?"   Pretty much.... preeeetty much.

And since I've been slacking...

36 Weeks, 5 Days

Bellysaurus   (Nick's name for it...not mine)

Size:  basketball?  Monster, record breaking gigantic baby?  Eh.. according to the last two ultrasounds he's hovering just under 7 lbs.  Which actually isn't as big as we thought (were told to expect).

Movement:  He's definitely going to be the first baby ever to kick or punch his way out through my belly button.

New Development:  He's found my bladder.  And my lungs.  And likes one particular spot on my poor, bruised right hip.

Sleep:  With 17 pillows, on the couch, body wedged just so... I can log a an hour or two at a time.

What I miss:  Being able to get out of my own way.  Being able to get out of bed without an act of congress.

Weird life history spilling conversation with the walmart checkout girl:  Today:  Her:  "so you're obviously expecting:"  Me: "..."  Her:  "How often have you had ultrasounds? Because they said I'm having a girl but I don't believe them."  Me:  "Well I've had a few but..." Her:  "OH GOOD!  I was hoping I'd have more b/c I don't see how they can say its a girl!  You can't even see anything.  When will my next ultrasound be?"  Me: "...  uhhh... well... see... you might not have another one.  I'm a little different... "  And had to launch into why I've had monthly ultrasounds.   She was bummed to say the least.  But wow.  That definitely makes the list of awkward encounters.

Nice comment:  Some woman: "So how much longer do you have?"  Me:  "just over two weeks"  Her:  NO WAY!!!  YOU LOOK AMAZING!!  Me:  awww shucks...*shuffles feet*

Great post, it won't be too long now then you'll be done with all the doctor visits well at least that often anyway. You do look great but you've done so well with BS all along! Glad BB did so much better this week!! Love ya!!

Words of Wisdom

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some are broken, some are whole, some have weird names, and all are different colors.... but they all learn to live in the same box.
