So since I know you're tired of seeing Kate (i mean as if you could get tired of seeing Kate's mug) in the top post (dad) - I'll share this story...
New Year's Eve we (I) decided that we (I) needed (NEEDED) some ice cream to make our festivities complete. Since it was already late we just went as is (in our 'camp out in the den and veg') attire. As we got out of the car we saw some other people who were actually in the land of the living and clearly going out to some fancy party somewhere. Then we saw these other girls. And by girls, I mean girls in the skimpiest, trashiest, I-would-have-never-even-considered-leaving-the-house-without-being-embarrassed-for-OWN-SELF - outfits. These girls were trying so hard to be cute and not appear to be quite so young - they actually had the opposite effect. But this is beside the point.
As I glanced around at all the dressed up, made up party people - I couldn't help but look down at myself. My comfy black lounge pants. Flip flops. A hoodie to hide the bloat (I know you feel me with the sympathy bloat dad :) ). It is possible that I'd showered that morning. Ok I'm sure I did (maybe). No make up. And hair put up but not brushed. I look to Nick and ask (honest to God) - "Do I have cheese on my face?"
He laughed at me. But it made me realize even more how much these people were not even in the same world as me. I laughed but begged him not to leave me for any of the cute made up girls. His response: Don't worry. I'd never leave you for a hooch. Especially one of the 14 year old hooches.
Awwww...what a sweetie. B/c they weren't all hooches. He just wasn't going to let me feel bad about myself. :)
