Wait...they don't love you like I love you...

It's easy to get overwhelmed.  Lost.  Down.  Easy to forget the good things.  You could probably say that about any aspect in your life.  I know I could.  Your job.  Family.  Friends.  Self.   Especially Self.

It's easy to put everything you have into everything else.  And forget about your own peace of mind.  It's easy to forget the good things.  All the things that make you good. Fun.  Important to someone.

I had a professor who always talked about how important it was to love yourself.  To not get caught up in the negative.  She said - and made it a semester long assignment (hoping it would catch on) - that every time you found yourself saying something or thinking something negative about yourself; that you needed to counteract that negative with a positive.

Oh, I can't do that.  I look terrible.  My hair looks like crap.  I need to lose 5 pounds.  I'm so stupid.

All of those things need to be counteracted with a positive.  (sometimes two).  I can't do that but I am an awesome cook.  I look terrible but my eyes are really pretty.  My hair looks like crap but I love this shirt b/c this color looks good on me.  I need to lose 5 pounds but I am going to eat this salad for lunch.  I'm so stupid but at least I'm trying....

It's a good philosophy.  And she was right.  It does tend to catch on.  I had her class in 2003.  And her philosophy still sticks with me.

It can even be as simple as thinking one good thing about yourself.

So...What do you like about yourself?  (not rhetorical - think about it! and come up with an answer!)

I... for one...like my feet.  Don't ask me why.  I just always have.  I love my long toes.  I even love my 2 wonky crooked toes.  No, I don't have a foot fetish.  I don't really like other peoples feet.. I just happen to like mine.
For S.  :)

I like my sense of humor.  I even like my quick wit and sarcastic nature.

So take a second and figure it out for yourself.  Trust me.  It helps when things get crazy.

Words of Wisdom

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some are broken, some are whole, some have weird names, and all are different colors.... but they all learn to live in the same box.
